Who understands Me but Me
My first impression on this poem by Jimmy Santiago Baca was that when I read it I realized that the poem was talking about how Baca's life was like when he was in prison. Through his own emotions he was describing what he felt at that time and the things he has seen. Also he describes that he lives like an animal.
Theme: experience in prison
Tone: lonely, abandoned, depressed
Imagery: "they paint my windows black so I live without sunshine"
Baca is talking about how things in jail were like because when someone is in jail they don't really see the sun because in a cell it's not colorful like in a real home and they don't have windows so you can look outside to see the sun or the world that is out there.
