Immigrants in Our Own Land

My first impression on this poem was that the author sounds lonely and wondering how his life would have been different. When he talks about the immigrants that leave their countries because they have dreams and expectations but at the end those expectations and dreams are nothing anymore.
Theme- the night allows us to escape from reality to find peace in the harsh world.
expectations vs. reality
Tone- sad, depressed &lonely
Devices- metaphor: "Immigrants in Our Own Land", that the immigrants are actually the prisoners that are not free in their own country.
Free verse- the poem does not rhyme
