- Hawthorne's purpose of writing the story is that a man makes mistakes like everyone else and someone can appear to be a good man but deep inside they all have a dark side that makeshe them break their own rules.
- Young goodman brown wife's name does fit her at first but at the end the name faith doesn't fit her anymore. Brown does have faith in his wife at the beginning of the story but at the end he loses faith in her and even suspects of her.
- The pink ribbons in young goodman brown signifys faith because she is innocent, youth and playfulness but not innocent at first because the color pink is made of two colors red and white. The red could represent evil and the white can represent goodness.
- What Brown witness could have been real, imaginary or a dream but what did happen was that he changed and he died unhappy and not trusting anyone from the man he was who was happy and trusting that went for a walk.
- The old man was actually the devil that appeared to look like a regular old man in Salem Village.
- The staff was motivating Brown to go into the forest. The staff were leading him to the devil but not actually leading him but it was the attraction of evil that lead him.
- If he had not gone into the forest he would still trust his wife faith and the townspeople and still have faith and die happy and trusting everyone. He wouldn't have know who the true evil was.
